Unbeknownst to me,
Your blood was spilt.
Unbeknownst to me,
Your joy was killed.
Unbeknownst to me,
Your hopes died unfulfilled.
Unbeknownst to me,
Your cries stayed silent until
Unveiled to me,
My head hangs down in shame.
Unveiled to me,
I try to hide my name.
Unveiled to me,
I realize I deserve the blame.
Unveiled to me,
The truth then became
Impermissible, you see,
My trust is badly broken.
Impermissible, you see,
My belief was mistaken.
Impermissible, you see,
My innocence is forsaken.
Impermissible to me,
My conscience is now awakened.
