118. Like a leaf in the wind

My life is drifting
Like a leaf
In the wind,

Where will I go?

I twirl and dance
With every breath he takes,
I wonder,

How far will he blow?

Sometimes the raindrops
Come to meet me,
I look for them,

Do they know?

They cleanse my heart,
They drench my fears,
They quench my thirst,

Watching me grow.

My life has its
Ups and downs
Most certainly,

Just like yours and so,

Do take my hand,
Let’s dance as one
In the wind,

So silently and slow.

117. Vanilla

The room grows quiet,
the footsteps leave haltingly,
pausing at the door.
Perhaps remembering
words that weren’t said.

Shadows fall tall
on the ground outside.
Leaves drift in a scented breeze.
Vanilla.
A taste of longing so sweet.
A fragrance that pulls
at the heart,
not letting those memories sleep.

The room is quiet.
Even the breath makes no sound.
I strain to hear
the absence of your voice.

114. Blanket for dreaming

Weave me a blanket,
Heavy and thick,
And lay it over me as I sleep;
Let it protect my dreams from the burden of loss.

A bell tolls far away in the darkened distance.

I keep my eyes shut,
And refuse to surrender to the shattering of hope.

Somewhere, someone’s heart is breaking.

88. Mountain – a poem for my soul

Are you still thinking
Of this story about you and me?
Do you still care
About the sky and sea?

Are you trying to find your way back
On this cold dark night?
Then look upon the mountain
Standing tall in all its might.

We may never find the way back home,
That passage is closed,
And yet we try,
For it’s this path we chose.

Fear not the sorrow,
The anger, or the fright,
Just look upon the mountain
Standing tall in all its might.

80. Together

I would give up all the blue skies
For that one moment with you,
I would give up all the daffodils
For that one kiss from you,
I would give up all my words
For that one song with you,
I would give up all my days
For that one breath with you.

You could be my sunlight
When my sun is gone,
You could be my tomorrow
When today is done;
You could be my happiness
When I’m feeling down,
You could be my miracle
Keeping my feet on the ground.

What would you give up
If I spent a moment with you?
What would you dream of
If I gently kissed you?
What would you say
If I sang my song for you?
What would you want
If I shared my breath with you?

Would I be your sunlight
If your sun were gone,
Would I be your tomorrow
When today is done;
Would I be your happiness
When you’re feeling down,
Could I be your miracle
And keep you safe and sound?

You gave up all the blue skies
For that one moment with me,
You gave up all the daffodils
For that one kiss from me,
You gave up all your words
For that one song with me,
You gave up all your days
For that one breath with me.

You gave it all up, didn’t you,
Just for me?

73. Memories

My mind has shielded these precious memories from their eyes.
What was yours and mine has remained just so, a quiet contemplation between us both.

My face has been gazed at most lovingly by your heart all this while.

The moments we held hands,
The secrets we whispered into each other’s breath,
The tears which fell from my face to yours…
These were our private moments.

But as I write these words, our shared existence drifts into another world,
and they begin to see us with eyes opened by the discovery of a new perspective.

Do I still look the same to you?
I wonder if your perfume still holds its sweet fragrance.
