107. 44 Tomorrow

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid goodbye to my sorrow,
I can wring my tears right out
Of my badly bruised heart,

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid bye to my sorrow,
I can look forward to
A fantastic new start

To life,
In all its wonder,
To the end of
All strife,

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid goodbye to my sorrow,
I’ve battled so hard
To get to today,

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid goodbye to my sorrow,
I’m alive! Alive!
Hip hip hooray!

97. Plea

Let me speak
Whilst I still have my voice,
Let me live
Whilst I still have the choice
To wake up each morning
And lift my head up high
To stand on my feet
And spread my wings wide.

My life is too short,
This life can run dry,
This life can just wither
And silently die;
Yet my life is a blossom,
Even though it’s fragile,
My life can give hope,
A reason to fly.

So let me sing
Whilst I can,
Let me dance
With that man,
Let me be
The very person I am;
Let me love,
Let me live,
Let me shine in this land,
Let me breathe,
Let me think,
Let me speak
Whilst I can.

96. Roar

She knows more,
He says, “No.”

She knows more,
So he talks more.

She knows more,
He silences her roar.

She knows more,
He won’t think so.

And so it makes her angry,
And so it makes her think
That all she does is for nothing,
And her hopes begin to sink.

But does she give it all up,
Does she throw it in?
No, she gets up fighting,
She wants everyone to win.

89. Dear Life

Dear Life,
thank you for the wisdom I get from gazing up at the stars.

We have a long way to go,
yet we can always shine our best.

Each one of us is unique,
each one a shimmering testimony
to the beauty of this universe.

We might be cloaked in darkness,
yet we are never alone.

Each one of us can light up the way,
each one a blossom of hope in the sky.

81. Going far away from here

I could be a bird
Yes, me.

I could fly away
Just free.

Fly over lands
Deep blue sea.

Fly far away
Being me.

Standing at this juncture
Let the past die.

Ask no questions
Needn’t know why.

I’ll forget the hurt
Leave it all behind.

And if I do fall
I’d get up and try.

I could be a bird
Yes, me.

I could fly away
Just free.

Fly over lands
Deep blue sea.

Fly far away
Being me.

79. Listening to the dream

The afternoon is hiding behind the evening sun,
Far away from your eyes and mine.

Where did your feet take you today?
Did you walk down the familiar path or venture down the cobbled walkway,
Tripping over jutting scars,
Scraping your knees on painful memories?

Where lies your purpose?

What dreams do you harbour deep inside the silence of your heart?
Remember your voice,
And mine.

78. Magic can happen

We have only this moment between us,
This breath that we share.
But it’s not hard to believe
That magic can happen if we dare.

Be counted,
Stand.
Be seen,
Raise your hand.
Go on, be heard,
Sing.
Be alive,
Be the light you bring.

Our hands are never empty.
Our hearts can always love,
Our lives do matter,
We’re from the stars above.

So be counted,
Get up, stand.
Be seen,
Throw up your hands.
Go on, be heard,
Sing!
Be alive,
Be the light you bring.

We have only this moment between us,
This breath that we share.
But it’s not hard to believe
That magic can happen if we dare.
