Weave me a blanket,
Heavy and thick,
And lay it over me as I sleep;
Let it protect my dreams from the burden of loss.
A bell tolls far away in the darkened distance.
I keep my eyes shut,
And refuse to surrender to the shattering of hope.
Somewhere, someone’s heart is breaking.
