107. 44 Tomorrow

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid goodbye to my sorrow,
I can wring my tears right out
Of my badly bruised heart,

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid bye to my sorrow,
I can look forward to
A fantastic new start

To life,
In all its wonder,
To the end of
All strife,

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid goodbye to my sorrow,
I’ve battled so hard
To get to today,

It is my birthday tomorrow,
I bid goodbye to my sorrow,
I’m alive! Alive!
Hip hip hooray!

89. Dear Life

Dear Life,
thank you for the wisdom I get from gazing up at the stars.

We have a long way to go,
yet we can always shine our best.

Each one of us is unique,
each one a shimmering testimony
to the beauty of this universe.

We might be cloaked in darkness,
yet we are never alone.

Each one of us can light up the way,
each one a blossom of hope in the sky.

75. Sidewalk

I’ve walked on it,
I’ve stepped off it,
I’ve fallen flat on my face;
I’ve picked myself
Right off the ground
And kept walking on with grace.

66. Angels

Do you believe in angels?
Hovering around you,
Wings coated in gold?

Do you believe in angels?
Standing beside you,
Making you glow?

Do you believe in angels?
Gently lifting you,
Holding you close?

Do you believe in angels?
Listening to you,
Healing your soul?

60. Candle

Blow out the light
and let the seconds pass by
as my eyes grow accustomed
to this darkness.

Silence is frightening,
when blackness morphs
into shapes I fail to recognise.

Strike another match.
Let the sharp scent of sulphur sting me
and surround me with light,
once again.

6. Arguments

Pernicious

But delicious,

You tempt me

And I forget whence I came.

Tenacious

So audacious,

You grip me

And I forget who I am.

Vexatious

And flirtatious,

You twist me

And I forget what I can.

Loquacious

Yet perspicacious,

You silence me

Again and again.
